Under the hood, the M2 CS houses a revised version of BMW’s familiar 3.0-liter straight-six twin-turbocharged petrol engine. This powerhouse now delivers a remarkable 530 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, a substantial increase of 50 horsepower over the standard M2. This power output now matches that of its larger siblings, the M3 Competition and M4 Competition with xDrive. The engine redlines at 7,200 rpm, with peak torque available from 2,650 to 5,730 rpm, ensuring a broad and exhilarating powerband.

The M2 CS sends all its power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission with Drivelogic for lightning-fast gear changes. Notably, there’s no manual option for this limited-run model. BMW has also meticulously shed around 30 kilograms of weight by incorporating carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) for numerous panels and interior elements. The roof, bonnet, front splitter, boot lid, diffuser, and parts of the center console all benefit from this lightweight material, making the CS the lightest current-generation M2 available.

Drawing directly from the racing experience of the M4 GT3 EVO, the M2 CS features extensive powertrain revisions, including software calibration and mechanical improvements. The engine boasts a closed-deck block, a forged crankshaft, and a 3D-printed cylinder head core. Twin mono-scroll turbos, an electronically controlled wastegate, high-pressure direct injection, and a dedicated intercooling loop ensure optimal performance. The oil circuit and cooling systems are also designed for sustained track use, maintaining stable lubrication and thermal management even under extreme loads.

These enhancements translate into impressive performance figures: the M2 CS rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds (or 3.5 seconds with a 1-foot rollout) and reaches 200 km/h in a mere 11.7 seconds. In-gear acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h takes only 3.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to a thrilling 302 km/h, thanks to the standard-fit M Driver’s Package.

The adaptive M suspension system has been retuned with updated damper curves and revised control software, coupled with a lower ride height for enhanced handling. The front and rear axles feature custom geometry setups. Braking is handled by optional carbon ceramic discs, ensuring phenomenal stopping power. The M2 CS rides on distinctive 19-inch alloys upfront and 20-inch rims at the rear, finished in a striking gold bronze (with a black option available).

Visually, the M2 CS stands out with its carbon roof and mirror caps, CFRP front splitter, ducktail rear spoiler, and diffuser. The kidney grille is trimmed in gloss black, and an exclusive CS badge with red detailing adorns the rear. Inside, the cabin is a blend of luxury and sportiness, featuring M Carbon bucket seats trimmed in Merino leather and Alcantara with CS branding. The Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, complete with a flat bottom, red center marker, M paddles, and programmable M1/M2 buttons, further emphasizes its performance credentials. Open-pore carbon fiber trim graces the dash and tunnel.

Production of the 2025 BMW M2 CS is scheduled to take place at BMW’s Mexican plant in San Luis Potosí. This limited-run model will be offered in small numbers, with most allocations heading to customers in the United States, Germany, and China. Deliveries are expected to commence by late summer 2025. In Germany, the M2 CS will be priced from €115,000 (approximately Rs. 1.10 crore).
