The Indian car market saw some interesting shifts in June 2025, with Hyundai Creta 2025 Model once again taking the crown as the best-selling car in India. Despite a slight year-on-year dip in sales, Creta continues to dominate the compact SUV segment and remains a top choice among Indian car buyers.

According to official sales figures, Hyundai sold 15,786 units of Creta in June 2025, compared to 16,293 units in the same month last year, registering a 3% decline. Even so, its strong brand recall, premium features, and SUV appeal helped it outperform all other models last month.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Brezza, and Ertiga Maintain Strong Positions
Following closely behind Creta, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire secured the second position with 15,484 units sold, recording a 15% growth compared to June 2024. The compact sedan continues to attract urban families and fleet owners alike due to its affordability and fuel efficiency.
At number three, Maruti Brezza sold 14,507 units, though its sales dropped by 10% year-on-year. Maruti Ertiga, a popular MPV for larger families and shared mobility services, ranked fourth with 14,151 units, seeing an 11% decline in annual sales.
Swift, WagonR, and Scorpio in Mid-Range Battle
The Maruti Swift, once a consistent top performer, came in at fifth place with 13,275 units sold, marking a significant 19% decrease in year-on-year sales. The Maruti WagonR followed at number six with 12,930 units, down by 6%.
On the other hand, Mahindra Scorpio stood strong at seventh with 12,740 units sold, achieving a 4% increase in annual sales. The Scorpio’s rugged design and performance continue to appeal to buyers in both urban and rural markets.

Why SUVs Continue to Dominate Indian Car Sales
In 2025, the demand for compact and mid-size SUVs is clearly outpacing sedans and hatchbacks. With models like Creta, Brezza, Nexon, and Scorpio leading the charge, Indian buyers are leaning toward high-ground clearance, spacious interiors, and a stronger road presence. This trend is also fueled by the availability of advanced features like sunroofs, large infotainment systems, and connected tech in these segments.
