Filming for the series is expected to begin this summer.
A Global Casting Search
Casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann led the extensive global talent search. In a joint statement, showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer/director Mark Mylod expressed their excitement:
“After an extraordinary search, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.”
They also thanked the thousands of children who auditioned, celebrating the diverse talent discovered throughout the process.

- Alastair Stout will be making his major screen debut with this series.

Production and Creative Team
The series is being written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, who also serves as showrunner. Director Mark Mylod, known for his work on Succession, will helm several episodes. The series is produced by HBO in collaboration with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.
Additional executive producers include Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, along with David Heyman of Heyday Films, who produced the original film series.
Controversy and Clarifications
Rowling remains involved in the series despite recent controversy surrounding her views on transgender issues. HBO’s chief content officer Casey Bloys addressed this on The Town podcast, stating:
“We already have a show on HBO from her called C.B. Strike. It’s pretty clear those are her personal, political views. She’s entitled to them. Harry Potter is not secretly being infused with anything.”
Representations and Agents
Arabella Stanton is represented by Gavin Mills and Julie Gordon at Olivia Bell, and by Public Eye.
With filming set to begin soon, fans around the world are eager to see how this new generation of wizards will reimagine the beloved magical saga for television.
